Organizer
Howard County Government – Bureau of Environmental Services

Howard County's Bureau of Environmental Services holds its third annual Pumpkin Palooza in the Miller Branch Library area in Ellicott City. Families can bring their old pumpkins and jack-o'-lanterns to be composted at Alpha Ridge Landfill, and stay for games, composting demonstrations and food trucks. Carved, uncarved and painted pumpkins are accepted (water-based paints preferred), but all decorations — candles, lights, plastic bags and so on — must be removed first. It is a practical, kid-friendly way to learn what happens to food waste and see composting in action. Runs Saturday, November 21, from 11 am to 2 pm.
