Ohio State's Department of Spanish and Portuguese, Latinx Studies Program and Center for Latin American Studies join the Wexner Center for the Arts for an all-ages Día de los Muertos celebration on Friday, October 30, beginning at 4 p.m. At 4 p.m. visitors can view personal ofrendas (altars) and join a comic-making workshop in the Wexner Center Store, or try hands-on art activities in the Lower Lobby and Heirloom Café. A welcome and gathering in the Performance Space at 4:45 p.m. leads into poetry readings at 5 p.m. and dance performances at 5:15 p.m., and the program also includes a short reading and book signing. A reception follows at 5:45 p.m.; free refreshments include tamales, hot chocolate and traditional pan de muerto. Entry is free for everyone, but the Wex asks guests to get a free ticket. Children and adults can also enter the Center for Latin American Studies' fifth annual Día de los Muertos coloring contest: entries are due by 7 p.m. on October 30, dropped off or mailed to 140 Enarson Classroom Building, 2009 Millikin Rd., or emailed to clas@osu.edu.
