Ghosts in the Gardens is Denver Botanic Gardens' after-dark Halloween storytelling tour, suited to teens and their parents rather than young children. Visitors walk the York Street gardens at their own pace while storytellers stationed around the grounds share true staff experiences, security-guard encounters with the unexplained and the history of the land once known as 'The Boneyard', the former Mount Prospect Cemetery. The main floor of the historic Waring House, a Beaux-Arts mansion, is included this year. New stories start every 15 minutes and the full route takes about 90 minutes. Remaining 2026 dates are October 20 (5:30–10:30 pm), October 28–30 (4:30–10:30 pm) and Halloween night, October 31 (4:30–9:15 pm), with timed entry. Tickets are $34, or $29 for members, and advance purchase is recommended. Children 12 and older are welcome with their parents; the tour is not recommended for younger children. Most of it is outdoors, and costumes and masks are not allowed. Waring House is not wheelchair accessible.
