- City of Littleton – Littleton Museum
The City of Littleton's museum sits on 40 acres beside Ketring Lake and pairs indoor galleries with two working 19th-century farm sites. Children can walk through an 1860s homestead farm and an 1890s turn-of-the-century urban farm, where staff and volunteers in period clothing tend animals and gardens, run a working blacksmith shop and teach lessons in Littleton's first one-room schoolhouse, so kids see how families in the South Platte River valley lived and worked. Indoors, the History gallery traces Littleton from prehistory to today, the Arts gallery shows original art and photography, and the Culture gallery hosts temporary and traveling exhibits, including shows from the Smithsonian Institution (the museum was Colorado's first Smithsonian Affiliate). A welcome video in the orientation room helps first-time visitors plan their walk. Hours are Tuesday–Saturday 9 am–5 pm and Sunday 11 am–5 pm, with last entry at 4:30 pm; it is closed Mondays and holidays (including Nov 11, Nov 26–27 and Dec 25 in 2026, with early closings on Dec 24 and Dec 31). Seasonal events such as Holiday's Evening on December 13 are held on the grounds.
