Galveston Bay Area Master Naturalists bring a fun, hands-on presentation about oysters, which the library calls the tiny superheroes of our bays, to Rosenberg Library in Galveston on Friday, November 6, from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Wortham Auditorium. Kids explore how oysters clean the water, create homes for other animals and help keep the coast healthy: they learn how oysters grow and build reefs, see how oyster gardening helps protect nature, touch real shells and explore what lives on them, and play a quick Build a Reef activity. It is recommended for kids in kindergarten through grade 5. Families can also pick up the library's Nature Passport at these Master Naturalist programs and, if they like, visit the featured location around town on their own afterward. No fee or registration is mentioned.
