Christmas in the Sky is Jackson County's free kickoff to the holiday season on the shore of Longview Lake, held this year as part of the county's bicentennial. Gates open at 5 p.m.; at 6 p.m. a holiday stage show features the cast of Quality Hill Playhouse's Christmas in Song, harpist Calvin Arsenia, about 100 singers and dancers from Monica's School of Dance, and the arrival of Santa with the First Gift of Christmas. At 7:30 p.m. fireworks choreographed to holiday music light the sky over the lake, simulcast on 99.7 The Point. Afterward families can drive the nearby Christmas in the Park light display, which opens the same night. Dress for an outdoor evening in late November.
