During Penguin March, the Kansas City Zoo's penguins leave their habitat and waddle, explore and parade through Helzberg Penguin Plaza with their animal care team. Visitors line the plaza to watch from close range and hear keepers talk about the birds' behaviour, personalities and care. Each march is short — about 15 minutes starting at 11 a.m. — so it fits easily into a zoo day with toddlers or school-age children; arrive a little early to get a spot near the route. Marches are free with zoo admission. Remaining dates in the window are October 17 and 18 and October 31 and November 1.
