Olathe Public Library runs a holiday decoration swap at Indian Creek Library on the first Saturday of December. Families can bring previously owned holiday items - for any holiday of the year - during set drop-off windows before the swap and receive a ticket for early-bird shopping from 9 to 10 a.m. on swap day. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the swap is open to everyone, whether or not they donated, which makes it an easy way to find ornaments, decor and costumes for the season without spending money. Full-size Christmas trees and inflatables are not accepted. Donation drop-off times are November 30 (2-5 p.m.), December 1 (5-8 p.m.), December 2 (9 a.m.-noon) and December 4 (10 a.m.-2 p.m.). Leftover items go to library programs or are donated.
