Organizer

City of North Las Vegas Parks & Recreation

At Silver Mesa Recreation Center in North Las Vegas, the monthly Handmade Holidays Workshop meets on the third Tuesday evening, and the December session falls in the last stretch before the holidays. Participants make gifts for friends and family using sewing, crochet, ornament making, clay and similar crafts, so teens can finish a handmade present instead of buying one. The city's registration system sets the age at 12 and up, which makes this a good fit for tweens and teens, and for a parent and teen crafting together. The two-hour session costs $12, and pre-registration is required because spaces are limited; about 20 spaces were open in October. Call the recreation center for details on materials.
