An annual holiday concert at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center on the Cal State Long Beach campus, which the center calls a Carpenter Center holiday tradition to share with family and friends. Five-time Grammy nominee and jazz pianist David Benoit plays Vince Guaraldi's music from the TV classic A Charlie Brown Christmas alongside contemporary holiday favorites. Benoit has a long link to the Peanuts world: he spent more than ten years composing music for the Peanuts TV specials on CBS and recorded the tribute album Here's to You, Charlie Brown: Fifty Great Years. Children who know the Peanuts holiday special will recognize the tunes. It is an evening concert at 8 p.m.; tickets are sold through the Carpenter Center ticket office, and subscribers can bundle it with other season shows for a discount.
