- Pretend City Children's Museum (with OC Waste & Recycling)
Pretend City Children's Museum and OC Waste & Recycling bring hands-on vermicomposting to young learners. Through interactive presentations and activities, children find out how worms turn food scraps into nutrient-rich compost and how small everyday actions — like recycling organics at home — help the planet. The museum calls the program Getting Wiggly with Composting; activities run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and continue while supplies last, so arriving early is wise. It is included with regular museum admission. OC Waste & Recycling, which runs the county's public landfills, also runs education and outreach programs on reducing waste, and its staff lead the activities. A good fit for preschoolers and early elementary children who like bugs, dirt and science.
