Columbia Memorial Space Center's monthly Saturday science workshop for elementary-age children takes on geology in November. Kids handle rocks and minerals, learn to identify them, build water filters and recreate the rock cycle by breaking down and re-forming crayons. There are two age-grouped sessions: 9:30 am to noon for ages 6–7 and 1:30 to 4 pm for ages 8–10. The fee is $26 ($22 for members). Registration opens October 28 for members and October 31 for the general public, and spaces are limited.
