The Arboretum's fall celebration in its final days: Scarecrow Hill is lined with dozens of playful characters made by the horticulture team, community members and artists around the theme "Connecting People, Plants and the Planet," plus a Pumpkin House, decorated giant straw bales and Bachman's Scarecrow Showdown, where visitors vote for the most creative scarecrow from six Bachman's stores. Through Oct. 31 the Pumpkin Palooza shows more than 500 varieties of pumpkins, squash and gourds at the Oswald Visitor Center entry circle and the Dahlberg Terrace Pumpkin Tree. Families can continue to the Farm at the Arb for a corn maze, mini straw bale maze, yard games and giant pumpkins. Included with general daily admission: free for members and ages 15 and younger, $20-$25 for non-members 16 and older; reserve tickets ahead.
