The Franklin Institute's family Halloween day mixes trick-or-treating with science. Kids collect treats at themed doors around the museum where witches, mummies and other characters wait (bring your own bag), join a costume parade down the Atrium ramp and watch live shows in the PECO Demonstration Theater: That's Gross! (11 AM and 2 PM), How NOT to Carve a Pumpkin (1 PM) and an electricity show (12 PM and 3 PM). There are also slime and viscosity demos, Shrinky Dinks, Pepper's Ghost illusions and Jacob's Ladder demos with Penn's Department of Physics and Astronomy, plus a look at the real science behind sea monsters. It runs 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM and is free with general admission.
