Elmwood Park Zoo thanks veterans with free zoo admission from November 11 to 15; veterans show ID at the admission window, and families are invited to spend the afternoon at the zoo together (companions pay regular admission, as discounted companion tickets are not offered). On Veterans Day itself, a Salute to Service ceremony in the Welcome Plaza starts at 11:30 AM to recognize those who served, followed by complimentary admission for veterans. A good outing for children who want to thank a grandparent or parent who served. The celebration days run 12:00 to 4:00 PM.
