The evening of the Gilbert Days Parade, the Town of Gilbert throws a free festival on the deck of the brand-new Ocotillo Bridge before it opens to traffic in December, a one-time chance for families to stand on the new bridge. The 4–9 p.m. festival has live music (Double Deuce from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and Nineball from 7 to 8:30 p.m.), eight food trucks with BBQ, burgers, tacos and sweet treats, and sponsor booths with goodies and activities; it is alcohol-free and open to all ages. Bring chairs or blankets, bug spray and factory-sealed water; coolers and backpacks are not allowed. Vendors take cards and there is no ATM. Leashed pets are welcome. Admission is free thanks to the bridge project partners. Rain or shine.
