The River of Time Museum & Exploration Center in Fountain Hills runs a monthly hands-on series for young explorers aged 4 to 6 that mixes literacy, history, science and creativity. Every session opens with an illustrated storybook, then a supervised themed craft children take home, then an exploration of the museum. On Thursday, October 22 the theme is Owl-o-ween, a morning about desert owls with an owl craft; on Saturday, November 21 children follow Little Tree's mission and learn about the Lower Verde Valley ecosystem. Each programme runs 10 to 11 a.m. and is free. Advance registration is requested through the museum's online calendar or by phone (480-919-5017). It suits preschoolers and kindergartners with a caregiver who want a short, structured outing.
