The volunteer community orchestra Awesöme Orchestra and conductor David Möschler return to the Exploratorium for an afternoon of music made in real time. In Bechtel Gallery 3, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, the musicians — some veterans of the group, some meeting for the first time — read through, rehearse and then perform a set of music from the movie KPop Demon Hunters and a piece by Spanish composer Oscar Navarro, so visitors can watch how a performance comes together from first read to finished piece. Alongside the performance, a Musical Instrument Petting Zoo lets children get their hands on the same kinds of instruments the orchestra plays, in short sessions at 12:30–1:00, 2:00–2:20, 3:00–3:15 and 4:00–4:30 PM. The program is free with museum admission and always free for Daytime members and donors.
