At this Martinez Library workshop, participants remember someone who has died by making a nicho — a traditional Mexican folk-art shadow box that holds a photo and other mementos in honor of a loved one. All materials are provided, and families are welcome to bring photos of their loved ones to include. The library lists it for all ages, so school-age children can build a nicho alongside a parent; younger children will need help with the assembly. The drop-in-style workshop runs two hours on the Saturday before Día de los Muertos, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, and no registration is listed.
