A free two-hour orienteering session at Rockwoods Reservation in Wildwood, led by the Missouri Department of Conservation. Participants learn the three main jobs of a compass: reaching a destination, identifying where you are, and mapping a route. They then put the skills to work in a treasure hunt with free giveaways. The program is held outdoors on gravel trails, so wear sturdy footwear, dress for the weather and bring water. MDC lists it as open to all ages; it suits school-age children and older kids who can follow a map with a parent. Register each participant through MDC's event system (20 of 25 places open when checked).
