Hyde Park Village, the open-air shopping district in South Tampa, starts its holiday season with an evening Holiday Happening. The program includes live music, a Nutcracker-inspired performance by the Tampa City Ballet and a visit from Santa, hosted by Janelle Martinez of Great Day Live, building to the lighting of the village Christmas tree at 7:45 PM. Proceeds benefit The Children's Dream Fund. It is an easy outdoor evening for families with young children: come for the ballet and Santa early, then stay for the countdown. The village's event page says more details are still to come, and it does not print a fee or registration requirement, so check the page closer to the date for anything ticketed (for example a Santa photo line).
