About this adventure

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway operates the world's largest rotating tramcars, transporting families 2.5 miles up Chino Canyon from the warm desert floor (2,643 feet) into the snowy alpine pines of Mount San Jacinto State Park at Mountain Station (8,516 feet elevation). The temperature typically drops 30 to 40 degrees, transforming the mountain wilderness into a snow-covered winter wonderland. At Mountain Station, families can build snowmen, toss snowballs in Long Valley, and explore snowy pine groves. The seasonal Winter Adventure Center rents snowshoes ($18/day) and cross-country ski packages on weekends, with gentle, well-marked loops like the Long Valley Discovery Trail. The Mountain Station complex includes heated observation decks, family dining at Pines Café, natural history exhibits, and clean restrooms.
