The Village of Palos Park and the Forest Preserves of Cook County host a family day of fishing at Horsetail Lake on Saturday, November 7, starting at 8 a.m. The derby is free and tagged for youth and seniors, making it an easy first fishing outing for kids with a parent or grandparent. Horsetail Lake is on 104th Avenue north of McCarthy Road near Palos Park. Check Illinois fishing license rules for anyone 16 and older and bring your own gear unless the organizers say otherwise.
