Crown Point rings in 2027 with a free outdoor Ball Drop celebration in 'The Hub' at Clark and Main streets downtown, from 10 p.m. Thursday, December 31 to 1 a.m. There is a countdown, a DJ, fireworks, glow and beverage vendors and a beer garden. The city bills it as a free, family-friendly event; it is held outdoors rain, snow or shine, with outdoor heaters. The late hours suit families with older kids and teens; for younger children the city's afternoon Kids New Year's Eve Party at Bulldog Park is the earlier option.
