Grassy Knees for writers and editors
Grassy Knees helps families find real places and real events to go to in person: zoo nights, library story times, garden festivals, museum days and the parks in between. Pick a metro and see what’s on for kids this weekend, then get out the door. Every researched listing links to the organizer’s own page and shows the date we last checked it, on the website and in the iPhone app. Our line is “Less scrolling. More exploring.”

Story angles
- Halloween beyond your block. How many family Halloween events your metro has, how many are free, and how many happen in daylight for little kids. We can break the numbers down for any of our 32 metros.
- The library is the busiest Halloween venue. Public libraries host more of the family Halloween events in our listings than any other kind of venue, ahead of parks, museums and zoos.
- An app that wants you to close it. A family app built to get parents off their phones and out the door, not to keep them scrolling.
- Every listing shows its homework. Each researched listing cites the organizer’s page and the date the details were checked, and says what still needs confirming.
