On Thursday, November 19, 2026, the shopping center at 900 North Michigan Avenue hosts Illuminate 900, an indoor holiday tree lighting at the north end of the Magnificent Mile that benefits Make-A-Wish Illinois. From 6 to 8 p.m. the atrium is decorated as a winter wonderland. Families can decorate sugar cookies, play in a musical play area and pose for holiday photos, while costumed dancers, holiday characters, choirs, musicians and a DJ perform. The main moment comes when Santa arrives with a Make-A-Wish child and flips the switch on the 50-foot tree covered in thousands of white lights. It takes place the weekend before the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival, so it works well as an indoor, early-evening start to the season for younger children. Tickets are sold by age: a Red Pass for children 10 and under is $5, a Green Pass for ages 11 and up (no alcohol) is $15, and a Gold Pass with drinks for adults 21 and over is $35. Tickets are booked online through the organizer's Humanitix page.
