Mundelein Park and Recreation District's North Pole Express is a pajama-party train ride on Sunday, December 20, 2026, with a morning trip (11 a.m.–1:30 p.m., boarding 11:48 a.m.) and an afternoon trip (3–5:30 p.m., boarding 3:48 p.m.). Families arrive bundled up in their jammies at the Prairie Crossing Metra station in Libertyville, warm up with hot cocoa and cookies, then ride north singing carols and playing games. At the 'North Pole', the Fox Lake station, the train makes a short layover and Santa climbs aboard to hand a small gift to every registered child and collect letters children bring for him, before the ride back to Prairie Crossing. Every rider, adults included, must register; the district notes that tickets sell out very quickly, and families receive an information email before the trip.

What was checked & what still needs confirmation
Read via the district's own Events Calendar API (two departures merged). Registration opened in August and the page says tickets sell out very quickly; seat availability was not checked, so availability is needs_confirmation. Fee not printed.
