Wilmette's Centennial Ice Rinks turns its Saturday public skate on Halloween, October 31 (1–2:30 p.m.), into a costumed party with games and a costume contest. Skaters who come in costume pay $5 general admission and children 5 and under in costume skate free; regular entry is $8 for students, $9 for adults and $4 for 5 and under, and skate rental is $5. It is open to all ages, so it works for families with beginners holding the wall and older kids showing off their crossovers. Dress in a costume you can skate in safely.
