A four-hour babysitter safety certification class at the Philip Heit Center. Participants learn basic first aid, emergency response, safe sleep, age-appropriate activities and how to handle common caregiving challenges. It is hands-on: students practice on CPR manikins and AED trainers, then complete a skills check and short written test to earn American Heart Association certification cards valid for two years. No medical experience is needed and the class is open to all community members, making it a good fit for teens starting to babysit.
