Little Explorers' Base Camp is a drop-in play-and-learn station for preschoolers and toddlers set up at different spots around the Columbus Zoo on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Exploration Stations use puzzles, books, tools and hands-on activities tied to a monthly animal theme. In late October the theme is "Primate Party" near the Congo Expedition entrance (Oct. 20, 22, 27 and 29); in early November it becomes "Big Cat Bash" in the Indoor Tiger area (Nov. 3, 5, 10 and 12). Each session runs 10 a.m. to noon. There is nothing to book: it is included with Zoo admission, so families can stop by during a morning visit and stay as long as the little ones are interested.
