Bruce Wood Dance Dallas opens its 17th season at Moody Performance Hall with a family-friendly triple bill built around Joy Bollinger's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, making its Dallas premiere. The program also includes the world premiere of Hänsel und Gretel, a contemporary take on the Brothers Grimm tale by Chicago choreographer Noelle Kayser, and founder Bruce Wood's Schmetterling, set to Mozart piano concertos. The company bills the evening as whimsical, humorous and suitable for audiences of all ages, with Tommy Bourgeois's costumes and digital storytelling by Courtney Ware bringing the rabbit-hole dreamscape to life. Running time is about 90 minutes including one intermission, which suits school-age children who can sit through a full performance. Performances are Friday, November 13 and Saturday, November 14 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, November 15 at 2 pm — the Sunday matinee is the easiest choice for younger kids. Audiences can stay after the show for Curtain Chats with the artists. Tickets are sold through the AT&T Performing Arts Center.
