At November's First Friday, the Nash Farmhands read excerpts from the Little House on the Prairie books and then bring them to life through hands-on pioneer activities. Children taste johnny cakes hot off the griddle and make a tin-can lantern to take home, trying the chores, crafts and fun of 19th-century prairie life on Grapevine's historic farmstead. The program runs 10 a.m. to noon and is open to all ages. Advance tickets ($5) for anyone 3 and older are already at capacity; a limited number of walk-up tickets at $10 may be available. Children 2 and under are free.
