The Dallas Opera's 'opera in under an hour for budding music lovers' series presents The Bremen Town Musicians at the Winspear Opera House on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 2 p.m. In this version of the folk tale, Eddie Pensier, a rooster who loves to sing, gets sent away from the farm for being too loud. On the road he meets Barcarolle the dog, Dorabella the cat and General Boom the donkey, and together they form a band, learning that friendship, teamwork and kindness make any journey easier. John Davies set the words and story to music by Offenbach, Rossini, Donizetti, Sullivan and Verdi, performed with piano. It's sung in English with English titles and runs about 35 minutes with no intermission, which suits preschool and early-primary children. Tickets are sold through DallasOpera.org.
