Live raptors visit Denver Botanic Gardens' Plains Conservation Center in Aurora for this program with HawkQuest, a Colorado nonprofit that brings non-releasable birds of prey to schools and communities. Through a presentation with live birds, participants learn about the adaptations that let hawks, falcons and owls hunt from the sky, how these raptors survive on the shortgrass prairie and why they matter to the ecosystem and wildlife conservation. Seeing the birds up close is the highlight, and it suits curious children of any age as well as their grown-ups. The program is open to all ages and takes place on Saturday, December 5, with the listing showing 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Tickets are $18, or $16 for Gardens members, and registration is through the Gardens' program page. The Plains Conservation Center is east of E-470 off Hampden Avenue, so allow driving time from central Denver, and dress for prairie weather.
