Denver Botanic Gardens runs family workshops at the Plains Conservation Center, its shortgrass prairie site in southeast Aurora. In this one, families step into a cozy tea party on the prairie: they explore herbs, flowers and other plants used to make tea, smell and touch a variety of natural ingredients, and learn how people have enjoyed tea through history. Children and their grown-ups then blend their own custom tea to take home and share a cup to celebrate everyone's creations. Family workshops at the center combine a guided exploration of the prairie with a project that adults and children make together. The workshop is designed for families with children ages 5 to 12 and runs Saturday, November 7, between noon and 3:00 pm. The price is $20, or $18 for members. Families with food allergies are asked to email the Gardens ahead of time so staff can accommodate them.
