The City of Brighton lights its community Christmas tree at Founders Plaza, at Main and Bridge streets in the historic downtown, one week before its Festival of Lights Parade. The afternoon opens at 1:00 pm with a Winter Market of local artists, crafters and artisan food vendors selling handmade, seasonal work along South Main Street. Before the lighting, children can get free face painting, visit the Teddy Bear & Friends Tree and have pictures taken with Santa, while local choirs and other musicians perform on the plaza. City Council leads the countdown when the tree is lit at about 5:00 pm, and the market runs until 5:30 pm. The City's 2026 calendar lists the event for Saturday, December 5, from 1:00 to 5:30 pm; the event's own page still describes the 2025 edition, so confirm details closer to the date. Admission is free to attend; dress warmly, as everything is outdoors.
