The Town of Elizabeth's Mayor's Tree Lighting fills historic Main Street with family holiday activities on Saturday, December 5, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm, with the tree lit at 5:00 pm. Children can visit Santa and Mrs. Claus and do crafts with the elves, and there are sweet treats and food trucks along the street. Main Street from Highway 86 to Spruce Street is closed to traffic for the event, which makes it easy to walk with strollers. Event parking is available at 151 S Banner Street, 455 E Spruce Street (the Depot lot) and along side streets, and accessible parking is set aside at the north end of the Gesin Lot, 165 S Main Street, south of Highway 86. It is a small-town celebration and a good choice for families in Elbert County and the eastern Douglas County suburbs who want a relaxed lighting without big-city crowds. Dress warmly, because everything happens outdoors after sunset.
