Denver's biggest Thanksgiving morning tradition, the 53rd Mile High United Way Turkey Trot, loops around Washington Park on Thursday, November 26. The main event is a 4-mile race/walk in three start waves (9:00, 9:30 and 10:00 am), and at 10:15 am children and families can run or walk the 1-mile Lil' Gobbler Family Fun Run, which starts and finishes at the main race lines in front of South High School. After crossing the line, kids head to the Lil' Gobbler Family Fun Zone in the Finish Village for games, crafts, face painting and photos with Gobbles the Turkey; children must stay with a parent or guardian, and children under 2 can enter the zone on a parent's bib. Strollers and wagons are allowed in every wave (organizers suggest starting near the back), but bikes and scooters are not. Registration opens at 7:30 am on race day at tents in front of South High, though advance registration is recommended; spectators are welcome along the course. Proceeds support Mile High United Way's early learning, youth and basic-needs programs. Park at South High, around Washington Park or in the All City Stadium lot.
