Golden's holiday parade returns to historic Washington Avenue on Saturday, December 12, with a 2026 theme of Western Winter Wonderland, the Old West meeting the North Pole. Starting at 10:30 am, the parade runs from 10th Street up Washington Avenue to 13th Street, with creative floats, elves, Victorian carolers, marching bands, antique cars, clowns, the Grinch, Buffalo Bill and Santa Claus riding a fire truck. Because it is a morning parade, it works well for toddlers and young children who cannot stay up for evening light parades. Afterward, free horse-drawn carriage rides run from noon to 2:00 pm, picking up on 12th Street just west of Washington Avenue by Bella Colibri. Kids can drop letters to Santa at the Golden Welcome Center, and families can donate a new, unwrapped toy to The Miracle Shop at Parfet Park between 11 am and 4 pm. Organizers advise arriving early for parking and a good viewing spot and leaving chairs and pets at home because the sidewalks get crowded.
