Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum at Lowry runs full-day workshops where Scouts BSA members earn the Aviation Merit Badge. During the day, scouts learn aerospace basics, plan and 'pilot' a course without leaving the ground, build a glider from a foam plate, use the museum's Flight Simulator Room and take a guided tour of the Air & Space Museum's aircraft and spacecraft. The workshop runs 10:00 am to 4:30 pm on Saturday, October 24 and again on Saturday, November 21. The fee is $25 per scout; bring a sack lunch, a pen and the printed Merit Badge Worksheet with step 5 completed beforehand (researching three aviation careers and the education and training each requires). Adults may sit in if space allows but should not register; they pay regular museum admission instead. It is a good fit for scouts who like planes and space and want a hands-on day toward a badge.
