Apex Park and Recreation District brings a portable planetarium dome from the University of Colorado's Fiske Planetarium to the Apex Center in Arvada for one evening of space shows. Visitors step inside the inflatable dome for a projected night sky while a live guide narrates the trip, so the stars are visible whatever the weather outside. The evening is split into four half-hour themes: a tour of the night sky (6:00–6:30 pm), a tour of the solar system (6:30–7:00 pm), moon phases (7:00–7:30 pm) and a tour of the universe (7:30–8:00 pm), which lets families pick the segment that suits their children's attention span or stay for several. It is a good introduction to astronomy for school-age kids who are curious about planets and constellations. Registration is through the district's rec.us page; the event listing does not state a fee or an age range, so check the registration page before you go.
