Galveston Historical Foundation's 53rd Dickens on The Strand turns the Strand historic district into Victorian London on December 4–6, 2026. Families find parades, entertainment on four stages, roaming costumed characters, street vendors selling holiday food and crafts, and new areas including Tiny Tim's Play Land and a Shopkeeper Skills Village. Friday, December 4 (5–9 p.m.) is Fezziwig's Friday with free admission; Saturday runs 10 a.m.–9 p.m. and Sunday noon–6 p.m. with paid admission. Advance tickets are $20 for adults and $13 for youth 7–12, children six and under are free, and prices rise $5 on November 20. Anyone in Victorian costume gets half-price gate admission, which makes dressing up part of the fun for children. Separately ticketed extras such as handbell concerts, teas and walking tours are mostly adult-oriented. Pets, ice chests, scooters, skates and other recreational wheels are not allowed, and the festival runs rain or shine. Families needing accessibility arrangements should call 409-765-7834 ahead.
