On Friday, October 23 the Houston Zoo pairs a Zoo Boo extended-hours evening with an outdoor screening of How to Train Your Dragon. Families buy either a movie-only ticket ($8.95) or a Zoo Boo Movie Night Package ($29.95) that adds a Hugger plush and a popcorn voucher; both are add-ons and zoo admission is sold separately. During Zoo Boo extended hours the zoo stays open until 9 p.m. (last entry 8 p.m.) with the Spooky Forest opening at 5 p.m., a Ghost Town at the John P. McGovern Children's Zoo, glowing pumpkins, illuminated displays and s'mores by the fire. It suits families with school-age children who want a gentle Halloween-season night out; dress warmly for an outdoor film and plan the evening around the 8 p.m. last entry.
