An hour of real fishing with a Brazos Bend State Park ranger on the Hale Lake fishing pier. The program is aimed at people who have been thinking about getting into fishing but are not sure where to start: participants discover the basics with a ranger as their guide and may leave with a fish they caught themselves. Bring water, a hat, close-toed shoes, weather-appropriate clothing and sunscreen. It runs from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on November 15, December 20 and January 17, the same Sundays as the Backyard Bass lawn-casting game at the Nature Center (9:30–11:30 a.m.). The page does not list gear, license rules or ages; no separate fee is listed and park entrance is $7 per person for ages 13 and older.
