Johnson County Library hosts a reception for A Thousand Words: The Art of Children's Illustration, an exhibition of work by Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) members from Kansas and Missouri, held alongside the library's Writers Conference. Families with young artists and picture-book fans can see original illustration styles and techniques up close and meet some of the regional kid-lit creators behind them. Light refreshments are served. The reception runs 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, November 13 at the Central Resource Library and is listed for kids and families, teens and adults.
