On the second Friday of every month the Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas runs Focus Fridays, a one-hour themed museum experience built around a single topic. Each session combines a guided gallery tour, highlights from the museum's collection and hands-on activities connected to that month's focus, so it works well for homeschool families and curious school-age kids who want a deeper look at Nevada's natural and cultural history than a self-guided visit gives. Walk-ins are welcome. Upcoming dates in this window are November 13, December 11 and January 8, from 1 to 2 pm. There is a $5 suggested donation that supports the museum's education programs, and the program is free with museum admission. The museum is on the Springs Preserve campus.
