College of Southern Nevada Planetarium

The Planetarium at the College of Southern Nevada describes itself as the only public planetarium in Southern Nevada, and it opens to the community for public shows on Friday and Saturday evenings and Saturday afternoons. The dome seats up to 66 people, so it is an intimate way for kids to see the night sky, the planets and full-dome science films; the planetarium's catalog includes titles aimed at young children (such as 'In My Backyard' and the December-only 'Let It Snow') as well as shows for older kids and teens. After the 8 pm show on Fridays and Saturdays, free telescope viewing is offered when the weather allows. Tickets are $6 general admission and $5 discount admission for children under 12, seniors over 55, active military and CSN students; buying tickets for consecutive shows makes each additional show half price. Tickets are sold at the Astronomy Store next to the planetarium (open Friday 5:30-9 pm and Saturday 3:30-4:30 pm and 5:30-9 pm), which also sells astronaut ice cream, models and science toys. Arrive 15 minutes early, as there is no late seating. Parking is free; use the lot next to the Observatory. The current show line-up is posted on the planetarium's online box office.
