Caspers Wilderness Park in San Juan Capistrano has been a stargazing hub for more than 25 years and in 2013 became California's first designated 'Star Park'. At this evening Starr Party, OC Parks sets up telescopes outside the nature center and experts help families explore the night sky until about 8 p.m., with interactive activities aimed at families and space fans of all ages. Equipment is provided, but you can bring your own binoculars, telescope or camera. Minors must be with a parent or guardian. The program is free (parking $5 per vehicle); registration is recommended but walk-ins are welcome. Rain or bad weather can cancel, so call (949) 923-2210 beforehand to confirm it is on.
