Family-friendly drop-in exploration stations about beavers in the classroom of the Thomas C. Savage Visitor Center at Fort Snelling State Park. Kids handle beaver artifacts, learn what evidence beavers leave on the landscape, make a nature journal page and peek inside a model beaver lodge to see how it works. Stop by any time between 10:30 and 11 a.m.; no registration is required. Families who want more can join the beaver-themed Wildlife Discovery Walk right afterward (11 a.m. to noon, about 1 to 1.5 miles on possibly muddy floodplain trails, meeting on the visitor center patio).
