University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum

A new after-dark winter light display at the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Chaska. A curated one-way path leads past 18 interactive installations: a canyon of sparkling lights over the trees (Glittering Gorge), color-changing tree canopies, arborvitae that pulse with light and sound beside a pond with cozy bonfires, five large geometric sculptures in the Perennial Garden, and a 60-foot interactive shadow wall where kids can leap and stretch to scatter colored light. Indoors, Rootstock cafe serves food and warm drinks. Open nightly 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. from Nov. 20, 2026 to Jan. 3, 2027, except Nov. 26, Dec. 24 and Dec. 25. Timed tickets: $35 non-members, $25 members; children through age 15 are free but need a ticket and an accompanying adult. Advance tickets are strongly recommended; pay-at-the-gate costs $10 more if space allows. Parking is free.
